I really wanted a ground breaker for this Halloween, so I started making one. The base is just a square of plywood.  In one corner I attached an angle bracket.  Using a heat gun PVC pipe was bent into the rough shape of the spine.  Once the PVC pipe was attached, cardboard tubes were slid over it to add some bulk.  A cardboard tube was used for the shoulders.  Crumpled newspaper balls were attached to the end of four cardboard tubes to form all of the arm segments.  The hand was a simple cardboard cutout the size of my palm.  Utility wire was used to form the fingers.  Random bits of styrofoam peanuts were used to form the finger segments.  The ribs were just strips of cardboard that were taped to the spine.  A sternum was made out of more cardboard and attached to the ribs in the front.  Oddly placed collar bones were taped into place to help hold the rib cage up. Paper towels were used all over for texture.  The head was made using STOLLOWEEN’s template technique over a paper mache covered balloon.
